Westhaven Lodge in Golden Bay
Westhaven Lodge is nestled on a privately owned 1000 acre peninsula, located on the NW tip of the South Island, in Golden Bay. This is an area unknown to the many visitors of New Zealand, which is attractive to those seeking something extra ordinary in a quiet, beautiful and undiscovered region of New Zealand.
Many visitors know the 'Abel Tasman Region' just 1 hour north of Nelson. Named after Abel Janszoon Tasman who was a Dutch seafarer, recognized as the first European to ‘discover’ New Zealand in 1642.
Little is know of the beauty which lies beyond the Abel Tasman and over the 'Takaka Hill also known as 'marble mountain'. Golden Bay is like another world, a vast paradise for nature lovers. Being unknown to many foreign visitors keeps this corner of New Zealand pure and untouched.
There is no shortage of the beauty to admire and activities to engage in, on your way to Westhaven Lodge. It is best to calculate a 3.5 hour journey from Nelson to the Lodge, with the last 45minutes being a wide gravel road, which leads around the second largest Inlet in the South Island.
